Students invited to April 24 leadership series; Sheryl Sandberg to give webcast

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Smeal College of Business students are invited to register for Aspire to Lead: The PwC Women's Leadership Series, PricewaterhouseCoopers’ first global forum on women and leadership, featuring U.S. Chairman and Senior Partner Bob Moritz. The event, which is free and open to Penn State students and faculty, will take place from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Nittany Lion Inn on Penn State’s University Park campus.

The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a global webcast featuring Sheryl Sandberg, author of "Lean In for Graduates" and Facebook’s chief operating officer. Sandberg will provide her perspective and answer questions about how women can embrace leadership and accelerate the transition from campus to career. The webcast will be broadcast live from Facebook’s campus in California.

Special guest Moritz will attend the webcast viewing at the Nittany Lion Inn with Penn State students and faculty. Beginning at 1:45 p.m., after Sandberg’s webcast, Moritz will host a panel discussion on leadership, career and other topics from the webcast.

Finally, the event will conclude with a workshop on Communicating with Confidence from 3 to 4 p.m. The workshop will help participants learn to maximize their communication style, engage others in dialogue, and create and deliver compelling messages.

While the focus of the leadership series is on the advancement of women, men are welcome and equally encouraged to participate.

To continue the discussion about women’s leadership, Moritz will serve as the keynote speaker of that night’s opening dinner for the Powerful Women Paving the Way conference.
