Blue and White Film Festival to feature students' best work

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- An annual showcase of student film at Penn State -- the Blue and White Film Festival -- will feature a variety of approaches and styles when more than a dozen student-produced films are screened at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the State Theatre in downtown State College.

Founded and organized by the Student Film Organization, the festival is a showcase of student films produced at Penn State during the 2013-14 academic year. Films selected range from comedy to drama and have been produced in a variety of styles -- animated, documentary, experimental and narrative.

Students across majors at the University submitted work for the festival that was then reviewed by a panel of judges comprised of alumni and faculty experts.

The festival is free for students. General admission tickets cost $6 for others. Tickets may be purchased in advance at http://thestatetheatre.org online or at the box office the night of the event if any remain.For those unable to attend the red-carpet event, a compilation DVD of the students’ work is available for purchase for $10. To order a DVD, send a check and return address information to Richie Sherman, 124 Carnegie Building, University Park, PA 16802. Checks should be made payable to “Penn State Student Film Organization.”
