Earth Day celebration planned for Penn State Schuylkill, local community

Penn State Schuylkill will celebrate Earth Day with two free events that are open to the campus and local community. These events are sponsored by the new student-run Penn State Schuylkill Sustainability Club and the EPICS Sustainability Program.

On Monday, April 21, there will be a showing of the movie "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" in the John E. Morgan Auditorium. The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with environmentally-friendly crafts for kids and adults. The movie will be shown beginning at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to visit the campus to see "The Lorax" and learn was to save the environment.

The annual Eco-Fair will be held on April 22 (rain date is April 24) on the campus mall walk from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit the campus to see what Penn State Schuylkill, local companies and community organizations are doing to preserve the environment and learn what you can do to help. There will be free refreshments and prizes.

Penn State Schuylkill is collecting the following items to benefit the Penn State Schuylkill Sustainability Club: cellphones, laptop computers, inkjet cartridges, MP3 players, digital cameras, digital video cameras, handheld game systems and electronic book readers.
