College to honor faculty, staff for 25 years of service

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The College of Engineering will celebrate 15 faculty and staff members who have given 25 years of service to Penn State in a ceremony at 2 p.m. April 16 in Kunkle Lounge.

This year's honorees are:

- Charles Bakis, distinguished professor of engineering science and mechanics;

- Tammy Besecker, administrative support assistant in aerospace engineering;

- James Brasseur, professor of mechanical engineering and biomedical engineering;

- Wayne Curtis, professor of chemical engineering;

- Joseph Cusumano, professor of engineering science and mechanics;

- Carl Dowling, instructor/training consultant at the Facilities Engineering Institute;

- Scott Heckman, network coordinator in the Hal and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering;

- Michael Immel, instructor and director of corporate relations in the Hal and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering;

- Beth Kennedy, administrative support assistant in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering;

- Herbert Lipowsky, professor of biomedical engineering;

- J.D. Miller, research assistant in the Department of Aerospace Engineering;

- Laura Pauley, professor of mechanical engineering;

- Susan Shutt, administrative support assistant in the Department of Architectural Engineering;

- Nancy Smith, administrative support assistant in the Department of Architectural Engineering; and

- Shelly Stoffels, associate professor of civil engineering.

As part of their 25-year award, each honoree is given a commemorative plaque and pin, plus their choice of a Penn State captain’s chair, rocking chair or Penn State Elms mantel clock.
