Penn State Brandywine welcomes new campus police officer

Penn State Brandywine has named Joseph Williamson as the campus’ second police officer. Williamson was sworn in March 21 and is now serving the Brandywine campus community.

Before joining Penn State Brandywine, he spent his entire 25-year police career with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), where he retired as detective III in January.

During his impressive career with the LAPD, Williamson was part of several specialized assignments. He was a member of a FBI taskforce for four years, a Secret Service taskforce for two years and has more than a decade of undercover surveillance experience. Williamson also served as an instructor for the LAPD and was considered a national expert in South American theft group operations, safe cracking and surveillance.

The Bucks County native graduated from Penn State in 1985 and holds a bachelor of science degree in administration of justice and a minor in business law.

Williamson can be reached by phone at 610-892-1215 or by email at JRW42@psu.edu.
