National Public Health Week celebration events

The first week in April each year is National Public Health Week, an initiative of the American Public Health Association, or APHA. APHA brings together communities across the United States to observe National Public Health Week as a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation.

This year National Public Health Week will be celebrated at Penn State Hershey with events hosted by Public Health Associates for Service and Education, or PHASE. Each day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 7 through 11, PHASE will feature a booth located in the north hospital entrance that presents materials related to different public health themes for the week. There also will be several seminars to attend throughout the week. For a complete list of the week’s events, go to http://goo.gl/1zzEJA. Those who stop by the booth each day or attend a lecture will be entered into drawings for Starbucks gift cards.

The mission of PHASE is to increase public health literacy through education, advocacy, PHASE-sponsored events, and community outreach at Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as well as the greater central Pennsylvania community. Contact Loren Archibeque at lda126@psu.edu with any questions.
