Samsung seeks out Abington professor to talk about shortened work hours

Korea-based conglomerate Samsung wanted an expert to discuss enhancing productivity through shortened work hours with its 400,000 employees. So where in the world did they find this person?  -- at Penn State Abington.

A Samsung film crew spent several hours at Abington last week interviewing Lonnie Golden, professor of economics and an expert on flexible work options and work-life policies and practices. The video will be broadcasted to employees through its internal network, the Samsung Broadcast Center.

Samsung officials noted that they discovered Golden's research through a paper he prepared for the International Labour Office, a specialized agency of the United Nations, based in Switzerland. "The Effects of Working Time on Productivity and Firm Performance" was published 2011. To learn more about Golden's research, http://www.abington.psu.edu/academics/faculty/dr-lonnie-golden
