Opera Theatre presents 'Pirates of Penzance' April 4-5

Join the Penn State Opera Theatre and the State Theatre in their hilarious production of Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Pirates of Penzance" at 8 p.m. April 4-5, at the State Theatre in downtown State College, Pa. Tickets are $20/general and $10/students (includes processing fee). Tickets may be purchased at the State Theatre box office located at 130 W. College Avenue, by telephone at 814-272-0606, or online at http://thestatetheatre.org/.  A special preview performance will be presented at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3 (same ticket prices apply).

The cast includes Penn State students Alexandra Vecchio, Veronica Byron, Jamie Rapaport, Ryan Ordnung, and Zach Miller in leading roles. Musical theatre voice professor Raymond Sage plays the role of Major General Stanley. The chorus includes a fun-filled lot of multigenerational pirates and damsels, including community members Meredith Byron LeRoy, Ron Byron, Russell Bloom, Robbie Hackman, David Fisher, and Russell Rockwell. The production is directed by Penn State School of Music faculty member Ted Christopher, who also serves as artistic director of the Savoy Company, the oldest Gilbert and Sullivan society in the United States. Music director is faculty member Beverly A. Patton.
