Stauffer to receive Award for Administrative Excellence

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Pamela Stauffer, administrative support coordinator in the College of Engineering, has been honored with the 2014 Award for Administrative Excellence.

The award, established in 1970, is given to a faculty or staff member whose performance, methods and achievements exemplify the highest standards of administrative excellence.

Stauffer coordinates accounting operations in the Electrical Engineering Department for general funds, grants and contracts, human resources management, academic affairs student offices, facilities, and alumni/development activities. Four years ago, shortly after she began working in the department, she completely revised its system of tracking financial commitments.

“Her attention to detail and new system saved the department tens of thousands of dollars by uncovering additional financial resources for the unit and ensuring that expenses were paid from the correct accounts,” a nominator said. Another nominator wrote, “Now we have a smoothly functioning structure with databases and systems that never existed and streamlined processes that have resulted in increased productivity.”

Stauffer serves as vice president of Penn State Educational Office Professionals and will step up to president in July. She also serves on the Commission for Women and the Employment Issues subgroup. Within the College of Engineering, she served on the steering committee for and currently is helping develop the Staff Advisory Council.

In 2012 she marked 25 years with Penn State. In 2008, she received the Geography Department Outstanding Staff Award.
