Support Staff Award honors Sebulsky

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Lynn Sebulsky, administrative support assistant in the Office of the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of the Liberal Arts, has been honored with the 2014 Support Staff Award.

The award recognizes the overall high-quality performance of a full-time member of the support staff with at least five years of active service in fulfilling the mission of the University and of his or her college or administrative unit. It also recognizes dedicated focus to customer service, commitment to quality improvement, outstanding skills and abilities, teamwork and professionalism.

Sebulsky assumed staff support responsibilities for graduate studies in the College of the Liberal Arts two years ago. For more than 770 students in 20-plus programs, she handles college reporting to the Graduate School, reviews and edits recruitment letters, serves as liaison when issues arise, and manages millions of dollars in endowment and award budgets. “Her elaborate system of spreadsheets and her tremendous organizational skills keep all that on track,” one nominator said.

Over the past two years, Sebulsky has “streamlined” the entire system she manages. “By systematizing processes, providing training to department staff and working with counterparts in other offices to smooth points of intersection, Lynn overhauled virtually all of our operations, making them more efficient, making them more accessible to others and helping us to identify new opportunities to enhance graduate education in the college,” a nominator said.

“Lynn anticipates issues long before they become crises, and she is almost always able to find a solution before a problem becomes acute,” another nominator wrote.
