Volunteers needed to make Hershey even sweeter

Kiss Hershey Back! is a township-wide cleanup effort led by Penn State College of Medicine students to make the Sweetest Place on Earth also the cleanest place on earth. This project was started five years ago by five first-year medical students who wanted to give back to the community.

This community-driven event is supported by the Derry Township Board of Supervisors and Department of Public Works along with local school districts, community organizations and businesses. Hundreds of community members volunteer to pick up litter and plant trees and flowers in Derry Township’s parks, near its greenways and along its rural roads.

This year’s event is planned for Saturday, April 26, and volunteers are needed. The day begins with a free pre-event breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and cleanup and planting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various Hershey locations.
