Kudroff Lecture to focus on value, efficiency of large construction projects

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Geoffrey Qiping Shen, chair professor of construction management, head of the department of building and real estate and associate dean of faculty of construction and environment at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will present the Marvin J. Kudroff Memorial Lecture at 6 p.m. on March 25, in the Regency Ballroom at the Atherton Hotel in State College, Pa.

The event, which includes a reception at 5 p.m. in the Atherton's upper lobby, is free and open to the public.

Shen will discuss "Ensuring Value for Money for Large and Complex Construction Projects."

He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Building and the Hong Kong Institute of Value Management, where he served as president from 2007 to 2011.

Shen received the Presidential Citation Award from SAVE International in 2009 for his "energetic and engaging effort to enhance value research and education."

The Marvin J. Kudroff Memorial Lecture was established at Penn State in 1981 and is alternately hosted by the Department of Architectural Engineering and the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering.
