Visiting Pathology Lecture to focus on prostate cancer

The Penn State Hershey Department of Pathology Visiting Professor Lecture Series will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, in the Pathology Conference Room, C7702. “Active Surveillance for Prostate Cancer: Critical Role of the Pathologist" will be presented by Dr. Jonathan Epstein, professor of pathology, urology and oncology at Johns Hopkins.

Epstein is a recognized leader in the field of urological pathology and one of the first investigators to develop a methodical approach to diagnosing limited adenocarcinoma of the prostate on needle biopsy. He is the recipient of major awards for his contributions in the field of pathology, and is both author and coauthor of several books and more than 500 scientific articles. In addition to his expertise in pathology, Epstein is knowledgeable about various treatment options for prostatic disease. He consults frequently with pathologists, referring physicians and patients about treatment management options.
