Smeal College of Business alumni invited to March 28 Impact Smeal Day event

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- On Friday, March 28, the Penn State Smeal College of Business and the Smeal Alumni Society Board will hold the second Impact Smeal Day, an opportunity for alumni to connect with students, faculty and each other through a full day of activities.

“We want Impact Smeal Day to serve as an opportunity for alumni to come back to campus and engage with the entire Smeal community — from students and faculty to other alumni,” said Jennifer Crispell, director of alumni relations for the college. “Whether you want to inspire current Smeal students, discover ways to become involved in the Smeal Alumni Society or hear more about what’s happening in the college, our full slate of sessions will offer something for you.”

Alumni may choose from a number of offerings throughout the day. The first set of sessions focus on Smeal initiatives such as honor and integrity and corporate recruitment. In addition, Smeal Alumni Society task force breakout sessions will foster discussion on various alumni engagement topics.

The second set of sessions will focus on faculty and student organizations. Alumni can choose to hear about current faculty research, observe a Nittany Lion Fund meeting and more.

The final sessions of the day will focus on sharing ideas among alumni and students, covering topics such as using LinkedIn to network, transitioning from college to career and managing a personal budget.

Throughout the day, alumni may also participate in CandidCareer filming sessions. CandidCareer is a tool for current students to review short informational videos of alumni discussing their careers. In the video, alumni answer a series of questions about their job and offer career advice.

The agenda will close with a Smeal Alumni Society Open Board Meeting, during which alumni can hear brief updates on the college and the alumni society, followed by the annual Awards Program & Hammond Society Recognition Dinner at The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel.
