Franklin announces Penn State football Class of 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State head coach James Franklin announced the Nittany Lions’ 2014 recruiting class today (Feb. 5) during a Signing Day celebration in the Lasch Football Buildng.

Penn State welcomed 20 student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent to join the football program. They join five Nittany Lions who enrolled in classes in January.

Penn State’s Class of 2014 hail from 12 different states, spanning from Pennsylvania to Florida to Alabama and California. The Nittany Lions had three signees from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and two signees from Alabama, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.

Eleven offensive and nine defensive players signed with the Nittany Lions today.

Franklin, who was named Penn State’s 16th head coach Jan. 11, will meet with the media at 4 p.m. to discuss the Class of 2014.

Franklin will celebrate the new class at "Penn State Football - The Signature Event" at 6 p.m. today at the Bryce Jordan Center.
