Graduate Women in Science to host Voices networking conference Feb. 8

Penn State Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) will host "Voices," its annual networking conference, on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Atherton Hotel.

Voices is a networking and professional development conference hosted annually for students, post-docs, faculty and professionals in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.

Since 2005, the conferences held at Penn State have provided participants with opportunities to interact with others from different backgrounds and experiences as well as provide them with information to help achieve their academic goals and have a successful work-life balance. The participants have the opportunity to find out how various women and men in the STEM fields handle their education, career and personal life. The breakout sessions and panel discussion groups offer time to share ideas, successes and struggles with other students, post-docs, faculty and professionals.

The keynote speaker for 2014 will be Dr. Jacquelyn Bolman, director of the Indian Natural Resources, Sciences and Engineering Program (INRSEP) at Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif.

The cost to attend is $10 for students, $15 for post-docs and $20 for faculty and staff, and includes lunch. The registration deadline is Feb. 5. Visit http://goo.gl/m7dHqh to register. For more information, visit the GWIS website.
