Penn State York’s gym has been packed this season with fans of the men’s and women’s basketball teams as both are having successful seasons. The men are 17-1 (undefeated in conference play) and the women are 11-6.

Both teams take on Penn State Beaver on Friday, Jan 31. The women play at 6 p.m. and the men play at 8 p.m. The men’s team won the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) last year by defeating Beaver in the championship. The games are free and open to the public.  The gym at the campus is located in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center.

Another cause for excitement is that Courtney Riggs, a guard on the women’s team, is closing in on scoring 1,000 points. Riggs is a senior at Penn State York and is from Hanover, Pa. She played basketball for Delone Catholic.

Josh  Jamison, No. 44, gets some air as he goes in for a basket. Jamison, a forward/guard, on the men's basketball team is a junior at Penn State York and is part of the successful team with a record of 17-1. To date they remain undefeated in conference play. Credit: Barbara Dennis / Penn StateCreative Commons
