Greater Allegheny alumnus signs with pro indoor football team

Darius Prince, former student-athlete at Penn State Greater Allegheny, recently signed with the Erie Explosion, a professional indoor football team in Erie, Pa. He is scheduled to attend training camp for the 2014 season. Last year, the Erie Explosion, a part of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL), went undefeated and acquired the 2013 CIFL Championship title. Prince was signed to the Explosion following his impressive performance at the Steel City Super Combine.

Prince played basketball at Penn State Greater Allegheny, where he earned United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American honors in 2011, as he averaged 22.5 points per game. He also played football at West Mifflin High School in West Mifflin, Pa.

Jim Chester, Penn State Greater Allegheny athletic director, said, “Darius was an exceptional athlete and student. This is a tremendous opportunity and honor for him. All of us at Penn State are proud of his great accomplishment.”
