Emmy-nominated multimedia journalist to discuss, screen work

Multimedia journalist Maisie Crow -- whose work has been honored by the Overseas Press Club, the World Press Association and Pictures of the Year International -- will present a free public lecture and provide a sneak-peak screening of her latest documentary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, in 113 Carnegie Building on the University Park campus of Penn State.

A freelance journalist based in Brooklyn, N.Y., Crow's master's thesis project at Ohio University was nominated for two Emmys. She has worked for newspapers and for the MediaStorm multimedia production company.

Her documentary about the only remaining abortion clinic in the state of Mississippi and its fight to stay open despite a law that could shut it down remains in production. The film originated from a multimedia collaboration with the iPad magazine Atavist.

She will show work from the project during her campus visit.
