Office of Human Resources reminds employees of free tobacco cessation resources

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Office of Human Resources provides two tobacco cessation programs at no cost to faculty and staff.

-- Health Advocate Take Control for Good -- This 13-week program provides unlimited access to a personal coach, who can help set up a personalized quit plan and provide support every step of the way. Call 866-799-2728 to obtain a cessation coach.

-- Highmark’s Telephonic Smokeless -- This one-year telephone-based program includes five scheduled outbound calls by a professional tobacco cessation specialist. Participants have unlimited inbound toll-free calls to address additional support concerns and receive support. To learn more, call 800-914-4384.

Also available is the Pennsylvania Free Quitline at 800-QUIT-NOW (784-8669), which is staffed by clinically-trained tobacco cessation counselors 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Telephone counseling and self-help cessation materials are provided. Free one-on-one follow-up counseling sessions are scheduled at your convenience. It's available in English and Spanish, and other languages as needed. Discount coupons on nicotine replacement products and local cessation program information is also available.
