United offering direct flights from State College to Chicago

United Airlines announced new nonstop service from University Park Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Starting on Jan. 7, there will be two nonstop flights per day.

Chicago, the nation’s third largest city, is a popular destination among students, faculty/staff, Penn State athletics, and the State College community. It is a major hub for connections to numerous other destinations throughout the U.S. and internationally, and is conveniently located in the heart of Big Ten country.

United’s ExpressJet will operate the daily flights with 50-seat regional jets. The daily outbound flights from State College will depart at 6:20 a.m. and 5:03 p.m., arriving in Chicago at 7:17 a.m. and 6 p.m., respectively. Returning flights from Chicago to State College will depart at 1:55 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., arriving at 4:33 p.m. and 9:23 p.m., respectively. Weekend schedules may vary and the flight schedule is subject to change.

Flights can be booked now at www.united.com and other distribution channels. Travelers will use the airport booking code “SCE” for University Park Airport.
