Abington student athletes earn honors

Penn State Abington student athletes keep racking up the honors as a men’s and a women’s soccer player were honored for their prowess on and off the field.

Senior Marco Paparo was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer/ Philadelphia-Area Sports Information Directors Association 2013 Academic All-Area men's soccer team. Paparo, a business management major who graduates this week, earned a place on the first-team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference this year.

To be eligible for Academic All-Area, an athlete must be in his second year and hold a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20. Voting is conducted by the sports information offices of the 28 institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

On the women’s team, Mallory Mugnier was named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Upstate Women's Soccer All-Star second team. The psychological and social sciences major set records this season for the most goals and points in the history of Abington women’s soccer.
