Penn State Brandywine hosts study abroad in China, Italy in 2014

Penn State Brandywine Global Programs invites students to embark on the journey of a lifetime by studying in one of two destinations over spring break 2014: China or Italy. During these weeklong excursions, students will earn credits as award-winning faculty guide them through several courses and cities. Both programs take place March 7 through 15.

In China, students will visit Beijing, Shanghai and Xian. Associate Professor of Integrative Arts and Ethnomusicology Paul Greene will travel with the students to teach an introductory course called “The Arts in China,” which will explore the means of expression and communication that involve sound, space, color and shape.

In Italy, students have the option to study “The Arts in Italy” with Instructor Juliet Gundy; “Cross-Cultural Psychology” with Assistant Professor of Psychology Daniela Martin; “Managing Differences in Organizations” with Professor of Management Veronica Godshalk; “Popular Culture and Folklife” with Senior Instructor in English Patricia Hillen or “Wellness Theory” with Instructor in Kinesiology Barbara Rostick. The group will travel to Rome and Florence.

Penn State Brandywine Global Programs delivers these distance education courses with short-term travel as an independent study, which requires coursework before, during and after travel, to enhance the experience. Since each program takes place during scheduled semester breaks, the students won't miss out on any other classes while they're away. Scholarships are available for many students who travel with Penn State Brandywine.
