Ten Thousand Villages holiday sale to benefit THON

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Springfield FTK, a THON special interest organization, will be partnering with the fair trade company Ten Thousand Villages to bring fair trade products to the HUB-Robeson Center Dec. 2 to Dec. 6.

Ten Thousand Villages provides a vast selection of beautifully handcrafted goods from artisans around the world, including jewelry, scarves, holiday décor, home furnishings and other international treasures. These products help to give back to the artisans who make them, providing a vital source of income and significantly improving their standard of living. This week, 15 percent of the sale proceeds will benefit THON.

Ten Thousand Villages has been a leader in fair trade and sustainable practices since 1946 and continues to represent more than 35 countries and diverse cultures from around the globe.

Springfield has been partnering with Ten Thousand Villages for a holiday sale benefiting THON every December since 2010, and it has proven to be one of the group's most successful alternative fundraisers. The sale not only benefits two charitable causes, but also provides one-stop holiday shopping for Penn State students and faculty with many unique gift options to choose from.

The sale is located at the Pollock Road entrance to the HUB every day except for Thursday, when it will be located in 107 HUB. It runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cash, credit cards, checks and LionCash+ are accepted. To preview some of the products for sale, visit www.tenthousandvillages.com.
