Continuing Education will offer SAT prep course beginning January

The Penn State Beaver Office of Continuing Education will offer an 18-hour program to assist high school students who are preparing to take the SAT exam.

The course, which will be held in room 106, Ross Administration Building, will familiarize students with test components, questions and problems. Actual questions from previous SATs will be used for practice. Mathematics and verbal sections will be covered. The course also should enhance students' verbal and mathematics skill levels.

The Official SAT Study Guide: Second Edition, now with 10 practice tests, features official SAT practice tests created by the test maker. With 1,000 pages and more than 20 chapters, it has everything students need to prepare for the SAT.

Penn State Beaver mathematics and English faculty will teach the mathematics and verbal sections of the review course. Each instructor is familiar with the exam and the steps necessary to prepare students for successful test-taking. If requested, faculty members will be available outside of the class sessions to discuss questions and provide tips. The complete SAT review course will be offered at three different times for a fee of $225:-- 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 18 - Feb. 22, 2014; 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 15 - April 26, 2014; and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26 - May 31, 2014.

The SAT review course will be offered only for students from Chartiers Valley High School, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 11-27, 2014.
