Penn State Model Railroad Club plans open house

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Model Railroad Club (PSMRRC) is holding a public open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8, in the basement of Pinchot Hall in East Halls.

Club members will escort visitors from the main outside door to the basement club area. For an escort, call 7-1361 from the phone by the primary outside door of Pinchot Hall or use a cellphone at the door to call 814-867-1361.

The scale model railroad is located in an 1,100-square-foot room and built on more than 2,200 linear feet of track and 400 square feet of benchwork. The setup features landscaping and many model buildings, including a steel mill, Hershey as seen track-side, a quarry, a well-detailed Union Station, a farm and a brewery. The scenes include bridges, mountains, villages, trees and a big railroad yard for train cars and locomotives.

Membership in the PSMRRC is open to faculty, staff and students.
