UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – After the second week of the 20th annual Penn State-Michigan State Blood Donor Challenge over, Penn State trails Michigan State 1,153 units to 834.
At Penn State, several drives are planned this week as part of the Challenge, which began Nov. 4 and runs through Nov. 21. Penn State leads the overall series 13 wins to six.
"I certainly encourage the Penn State community to take part in this challenge -- not just because of the competition with Michigan State, but more importantly because your donation is a life-saving measure for people in desperate need," Penn State President Rodney Erickson said. "Donating blood is a simple way to contribute positively to society. Each whole blood donation can help as many as three people, so let's pull together and beat Michigan State University — because we can and because we care."
