Lion Ambassadors sponsor food drive at Penn State York

Penn State York’s Lion Ambassadors are asking students, faculty, staff and friends of the campus to donate canned goods for a food drive under way to benefit the Feed the Needy Program at Apostolic Ministries, Hanover, Pa. The church will be preparing a Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday, Nov. 24, for anyone who needs a meal.

Items to donate include canned peas, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce; boxes of turkey stuffing mix and Hungry Jack potatoes; lemonade mix; pumpkin pie spice; as well as other items to create a Thanksgiving meal.

Donation boxes are located outside the Lion’s Den in the Joe and Rosie Ruhl Student Community Center, outside the Admissions office in the Main Classroom Building, and outside the admissions’ presentation room on the lower level of the John J. Romano Administration Building. Donations will be accepted until noon Wednesday, Nov. 20.

For more information or to donate frozen food items, contact Amy Hammonds, president of the Penn State York Lion Ambassadors, at or 717-634-8013.

The Penn State York Lion Ambassadors are current students who promote the campus to prospective students, their parents and the community. In addition to being a part of the Student Government Association (SGA), the group works closely with the Penn State York Admissions Office. Activities include campus tours, fundraisers and social events on behalf of the school.
