Campus to present 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

Penn State Altoona's fall production, "A Midsummer Night's Dream," will run Nov. 14 to 17, at the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with matinées Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 regular admission. Children under 12 are free. Minors should be accompanied by an adult.

With a musical score created and performed onstage by the acting company, the innocent magic of the enchanted forest is conjured with simple props and deeply imaginative choreography, underlining the coarser, darker elements of the classic comedy, and creating an engaging counterpoint to Shakespeare's absurd tale of love and lust.

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" is directed by 2013 Emerging Theatre Artist, Lee Kinney. Kinney, a recent MFA graduate of Ohio University, is an early–career theatre director based in New York with a primary interest in new work and play development. In addition to directing, he also works as a freelance graphic artist and as a composer and sound designer for theatre.

The Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday and before and during all performances.  For more information, call 814-949-5452 or visit the Penn State Altoona website at
