Penn State Hershey to participate in Global Entrepreneurship Week

The Office of Technology Development at Penn State Hershey will serve as a partner institution for the Kauffman Foundation’s Global Entrepreneurship Week Nov. 18 to 24. As a partner institution, OTD will sponsor a variety of events to help individuals explore their potential as a self-starter and innovator.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators, who launch startup companies that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. Since its creation in 2008, the initiative has grown to 131 countries that look to the starup scene for inspiration.

To kick off the week, Anis Rahman will speak at the Entrepreneur’s Roundtable from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18. As founder of Applied Research and Photonics, a company well-versed in nanotechnology inventions, Rahman will share his journey to company formation.

The week will also highlight innovative technologies being developed at Penn State Hershey and in Central Pennsylvania through a daily technology showcase beginning Nov. 19 to 22 from noon to 1 p.m. each day in the Hershey Center for Applied Research. Other activities include the opportunity for investigators to schedule an appointment with a nationally recognized intellectual property attorney as part of the Attorney Office Hours program.

Technologies and companies presenting include IDE Group, a design and engineering services company focused on designing products for mass production; Bio mimics, developing an innovative technology promoting enhanced healing time of bone grafts; Assistive Technology Products which designs and manufactures a unique hydration management system for wellness and preventative care;  RiDonk LLC, developing a mobile application for physical therapy patients to continue their at home care; and Actuated Medical, which designs and develops FDA compliant medical devices.
