Entrepreneurship Speaker Series set for Nov. 22 at Penn State Berks

The 2013 Fall Entrepreneurship Speaker Series Panel Discussion will be held from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, in Room 121 of the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Three entrepreneurs from area companies will share their experiences with our campus community. The panelists are June Houck, owner/president of June Houck Agency Inc.; Kathy Lovelace, owner of Lovelace Interior Designs and Space Planning; and Gregory J. Shemanski, president of Custom Processing Services Inc.

In addition to acting as president of June Houck Agency, Houck has worked for State Farm Insurance Companies for the past 25 years. She earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from Penn State and an master of business administration degree from Villanova University. She is a Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living by The American College.

As owner of Lovelace Interior Designs and Space Planning, Lovelace specializes in interior design for homes and offices. Previously, she ran a company called Avant Corp., which designed packaging and manufactured hotel amenities. She also owned a company called Product Concepts, which designed and manufactured a line of hair and body care products as well as scented gift items.

Gregg Shemanski is President of Custom Processing Services, a manufacturer that provides contract or toll processing services of technical and food-grade materials to a variety of industries. Micronized products include chemicals, minerals, waxes and fillers, as well as food goods and pharmaceutical excipients. Shemanski graduated from Lehigh University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business management with a minor in industrial engineering.

Each semester, the Engineering Entrepreneurship program, whose mission is to provide an interdisciplinary minor that fosters entrepreneurial creativity and leadership throughout Penn State Berks and its service area, hosts a speaker series, featuring panel discussions and invited guests.
