Faculty Artist Series presents Timothy Deighton with guest harpist Anne Sullivan

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State faculty member Timothy Deighton joins with guest harpist Anne Sullivan to present a program titled  "Music for Viola and Harp" at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, in Eisenhower Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.

This unusual pairing of instruments offers a stimulating and fresh aural experience that is seldom heard. The performers transcribed two of the compositions on their program, while the third is one of the rare pieces written specifically for this combination of instruments.

Sonatina in D, Op. 137 -- Franz Schubert (transcribed by Deighton and Sullivan, originally composed for violin and piano)

Lachrymae, Op. 48 -- Benjamin Britten (transcribed by Sullivan, originally composed for viola and piano)

Fantasy Sonata -- Arnold Bax
