University Police receive report of off-campus sexual assault

In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998 the University Police are giving notice today of an act of violence reported to have occurred in an unknown fraternity house near the Penn State University Park campus.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- According to University Police, the victim, a student, reported a sexual assault and possible “drugging” by a male sometime between Friday, Oct. 11, and Sunday, Oct.13, in an unknown fraternity house.

It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible “dangerous conditions” on or near the campus and at affiliate organizations off campus; an “affirmative duty” exists to warn persons associated with this University of possible peril at the hands of some third party or parties.

Police advise: 

-- Do not walk alone. Call 814-865-WALK for a free security escort.
-- Report suspicious behavior to University Police immediately
-- If you feel you are in an unsafe environment, get to a safe place immediately and call for help.
