Student highlighting luncheon at Penn State Schuylkill

The Student Professional Development Committee of the Penn State Schuylkill faculty is hosting a student highlighting luncheon beginning at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 23. This event will be held in the health and wellness conference room on campus. Several area business leaders have been invited for the luncheon, along with selected students, faculty and staff. This will give qualified students the opportunity to interact with business leaders and professionals, providing the potential for student internships.

This is the third year that the committee has hosted the luncheon. Several students have enjoyed tremendous internship opportunities as a result of previous luncheons. Businesses and professional organizations represented this year include:  Congressman Matthew Cartwright’s office, Representative Mike Tobash’s office, Ateeco (Mrs. T’s Pierogies), Geisinger Health System, and the Federal Corrections Institution at Minersville, to name a few. The committee also hosts a career panel in the spring.

The focus of the Student Professional Development Committee is: to provide opportunities for qualified students to interact with local business leaders and other professionals, with the potential for possible internships; to expose students to a larger scope of career paths through such interaction and increase their awareness of career requirements; and to aid or enhance the career paths of Penn State Schuylkill students.
