Classes will be offered for personal care, nursing home administrators

The Penn State Beaver Office of Continuing Education will offer four three-hour courses for personal care home and nursing home administrators in November. Administrators must complete 48 hours of coursework every two years.

These courses are approved by the PA Department of Public Welfare for personal care home administrators and the State Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators. Fee is $45 per course, and all courses are offered at Beaver campus. Classroom locations will be announced.

The Adult Residential Licensing Program will offer a scholarship enabling eligible personal care homes to send an individual for training at no charge.

Meeting Supervisory Responsibilities (three hours) offers an understanding of the nature of supervisory roles and responsibilities in today’s workplace.

1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8
Communicating Effectively (three hours) provides information about the need for supervisors’ enhanced speaking and listening skills.

9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 9
Building Work Relationships (three hours) explores characteristics and values of of high-quality work relationships with colleagues and employees.

1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9
“Leading Others” (three hours) offers techniques for maintaining daily focus, building commitment and cultivating a climate where creativity thrives.
