Libraries welcome new development officer

Chris Brida named assistant director of development for the University Libraries

Chris Brida began his appointment as assistant director of development in the University Libraries on Sept. 16. Brida is from Marion Heights, Pa., and he attended Penn State Hazleton before transferring to University Park. He graduated in 2002 with a bachelor of arts in speech communications and three minors in political science, business, and labor and industrial relations.

For 17 years, Brida worked in the hospitality and service industry before returning to graduate school to pursue a career in development, and he is now working towards a graduate degree in higher education administration through the College of Education. Brida participated in the Development and Alumni Relations Summer Internship Program with the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences in 2013. In the next few months, he will begin the task of identifying and engaging alumni in eastern Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina and New England.
