Oct. 23 documentary screening will unravel family paradox

“Stories We Tell” will be screened from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, at The Conference Center at Penn State Great Valley, 30 E. Swedesford Road, Malvern.

In this inspired, genre-twisting new film, Oscar-nominated writer/director Sarah Polley discovers that the truth depends on who’s telling it. Polley interviews and interrogates a family of storytellers as each relates their version of her mother and the essence of family: always complicated, warmly messy and fiercely loving. This deeply personal film examines how human narrative shapes and defines individuals and families, all interconnecting to paint a profound, funny and poignant picture of the larger human story.
