'Dimensions in Jazz' kicks off performance season, Oct. 13

The Penn State School of Music will present "Dimensions in Jazz" at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, in Esber Recital Hall on the University Park campus. The first performance of the year for Penn State's three jazz "big bands," the concert will feature each band playing arrangements by Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman and Duke Ellington, among others. The program will open with Outer Dimensions, directed by Sean Durkin. Inner Dimensions, under the leadership of Mac Himes, will then perform. The concert closes with a performance by Centre Dimensions, directed by Dan Yoder. Yoder heads Penn State's jazz studies program.  

Tickets, $4.99 for general admission and $2 for students, are available at the door 30 minutes prior to curtain.
