Oct. 10 Philharmonic Concert to feature pianist Steven Smith

The Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra will present its first concert of the 2013-14 season at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, in Eisenhower Auditorium on the University Park campus. The performance will feature Brahms "Piano Concerto No. 2 in Bb Major, Op. 83" with piano soloist Steven Smith. This performance caps off an exceptional 42-year performance career for Smith, who will retire from the School of Music in spring 2014. The Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Gerardo Edelstein

Tickets are $12 for general admission and $4 for students. Tickets in advance for School of Music concerts in Eisenhower and Schwab Auditoriums are discounted 40 percent.There is no limit on the number of tickets that can be purchased. Tickets are available at the Eisenhower Ticket Center at 814-863-0255 or 1-800-ARTS-TIX or online.
