CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – To raise money for THON 2014, Penn State Lehigh Valley students will have their first canning weekend Sept. 28-29. From 6 a.m. to dusk on Saturday and Sunday, students will be outside of Dunkin’ Donuts locations in Trexlertown and Wescosville along Hamilton Boulevard and at the intersection of Lehigh Street and Oxford Drive in Allentown. On Sunday only, they also will can at the Walmart locations in Bethlehem, Trexlertown and Whitehall.
Canning is an annual tradition that solicits donations from area residents for THON, which benefits The Four Diamonds Fund, Conquering Childhood Cancer, at the Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey, Pa.
THON 2014 will take place on Feb. 21-23, at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus near State College, Pa. More than 700 students from Penn State campuses and organizations will dance continuously for 46 hours to raise money for pediatric cancer research and treatments.
