Graduate School seeks nominations for student and faculty recognition awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Graduate School at Penn State is accepting nominations for the following student and faculty recognition awards. More information on each of the awards and nomination forms are available on the Graduate School’s website at http://gradschool.psu.edu/index.cfm/graduate-funding/fellowships/programs/.  Nominations are due Friday, Nov. 1.

Student recognition awards

-- Alumni Association Dissertation Awards - recognizes outstanding achievement in scholarship and professional accomplishment for Penn State graduate students

-- Harold F. Martin Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award - recognizes graduate assistants for outstanding teaching performance

-- Harold K. Schilling Dean's Graduate Scholarship - recognizes outstanding graduate students whose course of study is relevant to science, religion and ethics. Consideration also may be extended to graduate students whose studies involve critical societal benefits such as improvement of health, environment and energy.

-- Intercollege Graduate Student Outreach Achievement Award - recognizes outstanding achievements of degree candidates in any of the Intercollege Graduate Degree Programs that relate to bringing their scholarship to the community in order to benefit society in some manner

-- Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award - honors interdisciplinary materials research at Penn State which yields valuable, unexpected results and recognizes genuine innovation not previously achieved

-- Thomas and June Beaver Fund - provides recognition and financial assistance to outstanding graduate students enrolled at Penn State who are performing industrially sponsored research.

Faculty recognition awards

-- Graduate Faculty Teaching Award - recognizes faculty members for their outstanding teaching performance

-- Graduate School Alumni Society Graduate Program Chair Leadership Award – recognizes faculty members for exemplary leadership benefiting graduate students and faculty in an existing graduate degree program at Penn State

-- Howard B. Palmer Faculty Mentoring Award - presented to a full-time faculty member who demonstrates effective mentoring through guiding and nurturing the collegial and professional development of junior faculty

-- Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award - honors interdisciplinary materials research at Penn State which yields valuable, unexpected results and recognizes genuine innovation not previously achieved.
