September lunch seminar to address funding for academic commercialization

At this month’s session of BioStrategy Partners Practical Knowledge Series, on Friday, Sept. 20, on the campus of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine, BioStrategy Partners Inc. will present a one-hour lunch seminar discussing funding for academic commercialization.

The virtual program is a simulcast from Temple University to the Hershey Center for Applied Research, conference Room 1101. From noon to 1 p.m., Executive Director Karen J. Hanson will moderate between three panelists and facilitate a question-and-answer session.

The hour will feature Stephen G. Nappi, director of the Office of Technology Development and Commercialization at Temple University; Monica Winter, independent consultant for nonprofit organizations; and Kelly S. Wylam, director of the Innovation Partnership with Ben Franklin Technology Partners.

In light of the increasing challenges facing translational research funding, the three will offer their expertise on topics such as sequestration, increasing competition and reduced allocations.

This program is sponsored by the Office of Technology Development at Penn State College of Medicine.
