UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence will present Best Practices for Designing Effective Multiple Choice Tests from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in Room 201 Chambers Building.
In this workshop you'll learn strategies for linking test items to learning objectives and instructional activities. We'll practice using a test blueprint, a tool that can help you and your students. We'll discuss rules for writing effective multiple choice items and give you an opportunity to begin writing or revising a test for one of your courses. This program will be led by Crystal Ramsay, instructional consultant at the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence.This workshop is intended as a companion to Item Analysis: Improving Multiple Choice Tests, but attending both is not required.Participants should bring a multiple choice test they would like to revise or some material to begin writing questions for a new exam.To register, visit http://www.schreyerinstitute.psu.edu/Events?id=10610.
The Schreyer Institute will also present two session of Writing an Effective Teaching Philosophy from 1:45 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in Room 315 Rider Building and from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, in Room 315 Rider.
This interactive workshop will provide you with the tools you need for developing a strong statement that will stand out. This program will be led by Larkin Hood, instructional consultant at the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence.
