Talha Harcar, associate professor of business at Penn State Beaver, invited two visiting scholars from Turkey to spend time at the campus this semester. Filiz Boluktepe and Zehra Nisanci are on campus to conduct collaborative research in business and economics. In addition, they’ll observe Beaver business classes, interact with students, faculty and staff, and learn about daily life in the United States.
Boluktepe is an assistant professor in the Department of Business Administration at Uludag University in Bursa, which is located in northwestern Turkey. The university has 2,400 academic staff, 16 international lecturers, 41,000 undergraduates and 2,000 graduate students. She has also served as an instructor in the Department of Business Administration at Mustafakemalpasa Vocational School, located in the west of Bursa and the south of Marmara, Turkey. She is the co-author of five journal articles and has presented seven statement papers in Turkey. Boluktepe holds a doctorate in management and organization from Uludag University and a post-graduate degree in management and organization, and a graduate degree in business administration from Ataturk University in Erzurum. Ataturk consists of 17 faculties, five high schools, 15 vocational high schools, six institutes and 16 research centers as well as faculty and high school campuses in the neighboring provinces and districts.
Nisanci is an assistant professor in the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Management and Organization at Izmir Katip Celebi University. Izmir, located in the western region of Turkey, is the country’s third most populous city and lies on the coast of the Aegean Sea. Previously, she served as an assistant professor and a research assistant in the Department of Business Administration and Department of Management and Organization at Ataturk University. She is the author of three journal articles and has presented two statement papers in Turkey. Nisanci received her doctorate and post-graduate degrees in management and organization, and an undergraduate degree in business administration from Atatürk University.
