De Reus to speak at Human Rights Conference

Lee Ann De Reus, associate professor of human development and family studies, and women's studies and Penn State Altoona, is an invited speaker at the University of Connecticut United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Chair & Institute of Comparative Human Rights 14th annual International Human Rights Conference on Oct. 22.

The theme for the conference is "Violence against Women: Facts, Prevention and Elimination."

De Reus' current research and writing focuses on the complexities of sexualized violence in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. At this conference she will discuss her most recent project, which explores maternal acceptance and rejection of children born from rape.
