Volunteers needed for Web-based journaling study

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s Dr. Christopher Sciamanna is researching if Web-based journaling can be effective in reducing mental distress. Volunteers are needed for this study.

Volunteers need to fluently speak, write and read English; be 21 to 80 years old; have a working email address and Internet access at home or work; and be experiencing stress.

Volunteering will require attending an office visit at the Medical Center and being assigned to either a test group or a comparison group; writing on a website for 15 minutes on three days each week about one of seven positive affect topics for three months (if assigned to the test group); and completing monthly surveys online for three months.

This research study, IRB 41160, has been approved by the Institutional Review Board, under federal regulations at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine.
