Lehigh Valley campus announces new faculty appointments

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Penn State Lehigh Valley has announced the following appointments to its faculty:

Alison Bonner has been appointed full-time instructor in mathematics. Bonner received her masters of science in chemical engineering from the University of Arizona. She began teaching part-time at the Lehigh Valley campus in 2007, and previously served as an adjunct professor at Lehigh Carbon Community College.

Kasey Clawson Hudak  has been appointed as assistant professor of corporate communication. Hudak holds a doctoral degree in philosophy and a masters of art in communication studies from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pa. She has also taught as an adjunct instructor at Saint Vincent College, Latrobe, Pa., Robert Morris University, Coraopolis, Pa., and Duquesne University.

Elizabeth Keptner Babashak has been appointed director of the campus' Multimedia Innovation Center. Keptner received her bachelor's degree in journalism from West Virginia University and has a 15-year career in broadcast journalism including serving as anchor and reporter for CBS 3 (KYW- TV) in Philadelphia, WB-17 in Philadelphia, KTXL-40 in Sacramento, Ca., and WFMZ-69 in Allentown, Pa., among others. She also served as adjunct professor in business communications at Lehigh University, and is president of LK Media Consulting, Bethlehem, Pa.

Maryam Kiani has been appointed full-time instructor in mathematics. Kiani received her masters of education with a concentration in math from DeSales University, Center Valley, Pa. She began teaching part-time at the Lehigh Valley campus in 2009 and has served as a math tutor at Lehigh Carbon Community College and math teacher at Hadaf High School in Tehran, Iran.

Alexandria (Sandy) Kile has been appointed full-time instructor in communication arts and sciences. Kile received a masters of art in speech communication from the University of Maryland. She has taught part-time at the campus for 23 years. She also has instructed courses at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa., and served as senior training officer for FinanceAmerica Corporation in Allentown, Pa.

Robert Lipton has been appointed full-time instructor in information sciences and technology. Lipton holds a doctoral degree in computing technologies from Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., and a master's degree from Kutztown University, Pa. He has instructed courses at other Penn State campuses and many colleges including Cedar Crest College, Allentown, Pa., Lehigh Carbon Community College, Pa., Moravian College, Bethlehem, Pa., and Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

Lakshmi Iswara Chandra Vidyasagar has been appointed full-time instructor in mathematics. She received her doctoral degree in mathematics from the Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ. She previously served as a teaching assistant at the Stevens Institute of Technology, as a part-time lecturer at the Indira Gandhi Open University in India, and as a lecturer at Mohamed Sathak College of Arts and Science in India.
