Speed Networking for Researchers to foster professional connections Oct. 12

Speed Networking for Researchers, a regional event similar to speed dating but with the anticipated outcome of a professional collaboration rather than love connection, will be held at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, on Saturday, Oct. 12.

“Studies indicate that researchers who collaborate publish more frequently and produce higher quality work than their colleagues who work alone,” said Dharma Jairam, an assistant professor of psychology at Penn State Behrend and the event coordinator. “We’ll be using a speed-dating model that allows college and university-affiliated researchers in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and western New York to meet many potential collaborators within their field in a fun, low-pressure environment.”

Speed Networking for Researchers begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 2 p.m. It will be held in the McGarvey Commons of Penn State Behrend’s Reed Union Building. Cost is $15 and includes lunch. Registration is required and can be made at behrend.psu.edu/networking.

The event is hosted by Penn State Behrend’s bachelor of arts and bachelor of science in psychology degree programs, and by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. For additional information, email Jairam at duj11@psu.edu.
