Faculty Senate releases agenda for Sept. 10 meeting

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State University Faculty Senate will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, in 112 Kern Graduate Building.

The items below will be considered at the meeting.

David Gray, senior vice president for finance and business/treasurer, and Susan McGarry Basso, vice president for human resources, will make brief comments and respond to questions regarding the Take Care of Your Health Initiative.Regis Becker, director of university ethics and compliance will give a presentation on "Understanding Penn State’s Culture and Values: Overview of a University-wide Survey."A vote will be taken on revisions to the Standing Rules, Article I, Section 5 (Rules of Procedure). Votes will also be taken on revisions to the following Senate Policies: 42-23 (Types of Instruction), 42-50 (Credit by Examination), 43-00 (Syllabus) and 47-20 (Basis for Grades) and 44-20 (Final Examination Policy).The Joint Committee on Insurance and Benefits will present the Annual Report for 2012-13. Annual reports appearing in the agenda only and posted on the University Faculty Senate website include the Senate Committee on Faculty Rights and Responsibilities Annual Report for 2012-13 and the Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics Annual Report of Academic Eligibility and Athletic Scholarships for 2012-13. Senators with questions about these reports may send their questions to senate@psu.edu, and they will receive a response from the committee chair.Faculty Senate meetings are aired live via Mediasite. Any member of the University community not a member of the Senate may request the privilege of the floor on any item of business already before the Senate. Such a request must be made to the chair, through the executive director, at least four calendar days before the meeting at which the individual wishes to speak.
