UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Centre Stage will relaunch "Doubt: A Parable," by John Patrick Shanley and directed by Jim Wise, for seven performances Aug. 28 through Sept. 5, in the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center.

After the summer production of "Doubt: A Parable," Penn State Centre Stage is relaunching "Doubt" for seven performances to give incoming Penn State students and the community the opportunity to see the production.

Did he or didn't he? Where's the proof? A seed of doubt is sown. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play, "Doubt" is a mesmerizing, suspense-filled drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Sister Aloysius Beauvier believes in restraint, self-control and a rigid dedication to discipline. When she learns Father Flynn has taken a special interest in a troubled altar boy, she becomes suspicious of his progressive, engaging attitudes. Something must be done.

Director Wise joined the Penn State Acting faculty in 2002 after serving 13 years as head of Graduate Acting and director of the Series X program at the FSU/Asolo Conservatory in Sarasota, Fla. He has directed more than 80 productions at the professional and university levels, including 12 world premieres, and has taught more than 150 acting workshops throughout the United States.

Jane Ridley will return as Sister Aloysius Beauvier, along with third-year master of fine arts actors Stori Ayers as Mrs. Muller, Tyler Reilly as Father Brendan Flynn and Kenzie Ross as Sister James.

The preview is at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28; evenings shows are at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29, 30 and 31, and Sept. 3, 4 and 5. Tickets are $16 and $18. Penn State Students (with valid PSU ID) pay $12.
